About us

B’nai B’rith is one of the world’s oldest and largest Jewish humanitarian organizations.

Founded in New York in 1843, B’nai B’rith (Hebrew for “Children of the Covenant”) was established to support Jewish refugees arriving from Eastern Europe, promote Jewish education and culture, and strengthen Jewish communal life in the United States.

Over the years, local chapters — known as Lodges — were established around the world. Today, B’nai B’rith is active in approximately 50 countries and is widely recognized as a leading voice in combating antisemitism, supporting Jewish communities, and advocating for the State of Israel.

The B’nai B’rith Alliance (BBA) was established in Berlin in October 2025. Representing more than 20 countries across five European regions, it serves as an independent district of B’nai B’rith International, fostering cooperation, dialogue, and Jewish communal engagement throughout Northern, Central, and Southern Europe.

B'nai B'rith is a registered NGO.
